“…Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commended you: and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”

Mat. 28: 19-20.

Church Cannons strongly advise that the sacrament of Baptism be Administered within 8 to 40 days of a birth of an infant, and  that it take place in the Church Sanctuary.

We follow Christ’s example when He was baptized by John the Baptist, and abide by his Commandment that we must be born of the water and the spirit so that we may enter the Kingdom of God.

After the renunciation of Satan and confession of the Priest prepares the baptismal water by adding Holy Oil (Muron) and blesses it.  The Godfather then gives the child to the priest, who Immerses the child three times into the blessed water, invoking the Holy Trinity - The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, symbolizing the shedding of our original sin and being reborn in Christ.

The Godfather presenting the child should be a baptized and confirmed Christian in the Armenian Apostolic Church.  The Godparents bare the responsibility to ensure the spiritual education of the child.

Baptism, Chrismation and Holy Communion are administered at the same time.
